Urpiaisten ja tilhien "talviherkut"

 Tilhiparvet talven piristys

Vuoden 2021 pihlajamarjasato oli  runsas ja se toi paljon tilhiä myös taajamiin. Isoja parvia oli liikkeellä ja pihlajanmarjat hävisivät nopeaan tahtiin pihlajista. Loppuvuodesta kuvasin tilhiparvea ensilumen sataessa taivaalta. Tunnelma oli hieno! 

Kävin useana päivänä seuraamassa tilhiparvea ja tapasin ne myös orapihlajapensaassa syömässä jäisiä marjoja. Kuhina oli melkoinen, kun tilhiparvi hyppeli pensaan latvuksissa marjoja etsien.

Urpiaisten perässä pakkassäässä

Tammikuun alkupäivien kirpakat pakkaskelit eivät houkutelleet kuvausretkille. Pihalintujen kuvaaminen alkoi kuitenkin jo kyllästyttä ja niin päädyin tikkametsään etsimään kuvauskohteita. 

Yllättäen eteeni lennähti lepän latvaan parvi urpiaisia. Kaivoin kameran repusta ja otin muutamia kuvia paksun petäjän takana piileskellen. Urpiaiset näyttivät niin keskittyneiltä urpuja tokkimaan, että hiippailin noin kymmenen metrin päähän parvesta. 

Valoa oli sopivasti ja sain kuvattua urpiaisia häiriöttä ainakin 10 minutin ajan. Kyllä oli jännittävää päästä näin hienoon tilanteeseen urpiaisia kuvaamaan. Aikaisemmin olen kuvannut niitä pitkästä matkasta, kun ne ovat korkealla koivun latvasssa. 

 Pakkanen alkoi nipistellä näppejä, kun urpiaisparvi pölähti lentoon ja suuntasi korkean koivun latvaan.

Kohmeisilla käsillä panin kameran repuun ja lähdin tyytyväisenä urpiaisten kuvaussessisosta sisälle ottamiani kuvia katselemaan.

Kävin etsimässä urpiaisia useanan päivänä ja tapasin parven auringon paisteessa lepän latvustossa. Onnistuin taas pääsemään aivan puun alle ja sain kuvattua tarkemmin urpiaisten ruokailua.

Urpiaiset avasivat nokallaan urpujen suomut ja sitten kätevästi kielellä lipaisivat siemenet suuhunsa.Toisinaan ne saivat siemenen näppärästi nokan kärjellä vedettyä irti urvusta ja popsivat sitten siemenen suuhunsa. Tapahtuma on niin nopea, että sitä ei ehdi kunnola paikanpäällä näkemään. Kun koneella katselin kuvia, niin silloin havaitsin nämä eri menetelmät.

Urpiainen takoo urpua ja saa suomun auki, jonka jälkeen se kiilaa nokalla syntynyttä rakosta ja joko vetää nokan kärjellä siemen ulos tai sitten "lipaiseen" sen kielellä.

On se urpiainen melkoinen tasapainoilija, kun se keikkuu puiden latvoissa siemeniä syömässä!

Urpiainen avaa näppärästi nokalla urvusta suomun. Näytää siltä, että "toimenpiteen" yhteydessä kielestä erittyy sylkeä ja tahmaisesta siemenestä saa paremman otteen ?

The predator

The Ural Owl is very beautiful bird. It's nutrition are birds and rodents. Excellent hearing helps it find under the snow mouses and voles. 

A thrilling nature experience

I encountered a Great Grey Owl 

I was on nature trip in forest when I saw a great grey owl flying over a field. It plunged to the ground and stayed in place for a moment in a snowdrift. Soon the owl get up on its wings and flew to the aspen branch.

I walked cautiously closer and stay waiting if the owl got the catch. The owl followed me with its gaze and suddenly it take off and came straight towards me. I had camera ready and took lot off pictures.  The owl's gaze was locked straight at me and it crashed towards me.

When the distance to the owl was only about 10 meters, it changed the direction of flight and dodged me very narrowly. That moment was rousing.

The magic of winter

This past winter has been like winters before the old days: Snow and frost have shaped the landscapes fabulous beautiful. I am moved every day in the forests seeking a suitable description of the items. Ethylene has occurred in some unexpected situations, and I have been able to photograph the birds and mammals in their unnoticed. 

  The deer are in tight spot this winter, when there have been heavy frost and the deep snow. 

The tough eye of the Eurasian pygmy owl gets graph. There is no playing with this guy.

The Sparrow Owl is a dizzying predator! Despite its small size, if prey on small birds, although it is only slightly large in its catch. Mice and moles are also part of the sparrow owl's diet. It stores its prey in bowls in case of a bod day.

 Lesser Spotted Woodpecker is a flimsy revelation

   I watched Lesser Spotted Woodpecker for an hour as it peeled off the bark of the withered birch twig      and grabbed the larvae in his mouth.

    

    

    The frost and light snow cover have made the birch fabulously beautiful.

   

The whit-backed woodpecker looks for larvae of birch beeches and also often makes a nest cavity in the birch trunk.

    The gray-headed woodpecker is a beautiful green color. It diligently visits in the feeding place. 

   The great spotted woodpecker are a common food guest in the winter feeding place.

The weasel is very difficult to photograph because it's clumsy and doesn't thrive in one place for very long.
